Association Activities

Students association ‘BIO ELIXIRZ’ is a forum for interaction among the students, the academicians, leading scientists and the industrial experts. This integrates a healthy blend of methodologies to impart holistic nourishment to young engineers.

• A National level technical symposium “SANGRAHA’07” was conducted on 26^th September 2007, it was inaugurated by Shri.Mahavir Patil, Department Head, Engineering Section, Engine Systems, Robert Bosch India.                      
• A National Conference on ADAPTIVE SENSORS AND INTELLIGENT SYSTEMS "NCASIS’08" was organized and held on 21^st and 22^nd November 2008 and was greatly sponsored by the AICTE, DRDO, ISRO, DST and TNSCST with the huge sum of Rs.2.2 lakhs. On August19, 2008, Dr.C.Rajkumar Department of Nuclear Medicine, GKNM Hospital, Coimbatore, delivered a guest lecture on the topic, "Future of Biomedical Engineers", which was highly informative.                    
•  Dr.V.J.Mohan Prasad, Gastroenterologist, K.G.Hospitals, Coimbatore  gave a presentation on “Capsule Endoscopy”, the recent technological advancement in the field of Bio-Medical Engineering on August 29,2008, which gave us an insight to the role and scope of the bio-medical engineers in the field of gastroenterology.
• Dr.Anand David Pandyan from Keele University, United Kingdom, elucidated the future of biomedical engineers in the field of Rehabilitation on Feb 16, 2009 which was an eye-opener for the majority of us.
• Dr.S.Balaji(M.D.) Interventional Cardiologist, Sri Ramakrishna Hospital, Coimbatore, gave an informative talk on “Smart Sensor used in Interventional cardiac surgery”.                      
• Dr.P.Mathew Cherian M.D,Interventional Radiologist ,KMCH Hospital, Coimbatore, updated  the students’ knowledge on “Recent Trends In Radiology" in BioMedical Engineering Fields.
• Dr.J.S.Bhuvaneshwaran, Head, Cardiology.PSG institute of Medical Sciences and Research shared his ideas on “Cardiology in Biomedical engineering  “ on August 3, 2009.
• Dr.Rajendran Mahusudanan of Senthil hospital, Coimbatore gave a valuable  lecture on  "Accidents and its awareness" on18^th  September 2009.

With the motive of benefiting the students, various workshops have been conducted by the BIOELIXIRZ. Some of them are PLC, DCS and its applications was held on 2^nd and 3^rd February 2007, "MATLAB AND ITS APPLICATIONS" on 2^nd September 2008. The resource persons were Dr.K.Porkumaran, Dr.R.Bremananth, Prof.B.Balasubramanian, Mr.K.Srinivasan and Ms.N.Manju, "LabVIEW AND ITS APPLICATIONS" Engineering and Graphical System Design" was organized on 25^th February 2009 in collaboration with NATIONAL INSTRUMENTS, Bangalore. The technical sessions were handled by Er.J.Visveswaran and NI team.
